Bill Oddie came in to talkRADIO for a chat with Paul Ross

The actor and writer, known for his time on The Goodies and his wildlife programmes, is taking part in the second series of BBC One show The Real Marigold Hotel

Inspired by the hit movie The Real Exotic Marigold Hotel, the show documents the attempts by Oddie and other stars like Miriam Margolyes to live in Kerala for their retirement.

In an interview with Paul Ross, Oddie revealed why he'd chosen to take part.

He said: "It comes down to dignity. I've said no to a lot, but this one had so much more dignity and it wasn't competitive.

"I didn't know who was going on it when I signed up. There were shrieks of merriment, as you might imagine.

"I think I was right, because they were a lovely bunch of people."

He also reflected on his career during the interview - listen above.
