Blake Harrison popped by the studio for a chat with Paul Ross

The actor, renowned for his portrayal of Neil from The Inbetweeners, has been cast as DS Spencer Gibbs in ITV's Prime Suspect 1973.

The show, adapted from Lynda La Plante's novel Tennison, depicts a young Jane Tennison working on her first murder case.

Blake told listeners how his character got lucky with the wardrobe choices.

He said: "My character got a lot of fun stuff to wear.

"As well as a tough cop, he's the lead singer of a band.

"He's a bit of a peacock, he likes to flaunt his attire. One of them was a big, frilly red number that looked straight out of Strictly Come Dancing."

Prime Suspect 1973 airs tomorrow on ITV from 9pm.
