Comedian Bill Bailey is embarking on a 100 mile walk -but he's actually walking the wrong way so his hair stays in place.

Bailey is set to walk 100 miles in six days to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer. He will start today (July 24) on the chalk downs of the Icknield Way and then join Europe’s oldest road, the Ridgeway.

The comedian told Paul Ross: "If the weather is not too bad and I don’t go over on my ankle or something I should be alright."

He claims that "it’s not sort of a path really, it’s more of a way, it’s like the path is worn into the ground by thousands of years of people walking on it."

Bailey explained that although "the guide books say you have to walk west to east because of the prevailing wind" he'll be walking the opposite way as "I’ve got very long straggly hair and if I walk that way the hair goes round my face and I look stupid."

He's explained that he's doing the walk for his mum who died of bowel cancer 12 years ago. "It’s really in her memory - that was the reason for the walk, plus other family members who’ve either gone through cancer or living with it."
