With $20m (£15m) in prize money, millions of players worldwide and a final event featuring 20 teams, The International 2016 puts most international sporting competitions firmly in the shade. 

Currently underway in Seattle, USA, International 2016 is one of the world's leading video gamematch-ups, pitting competitors against each other playing the video game DotA 2 (Defense of the Ancients) in front of 17,000 spectators in the Seattle Center's Key Arena. 

One of DotA 2's leading personalities, Kevin 'Purge' Godec – a renowned player and coach of the game – explained to Jonny Gould and Ash how DotA and The International 2016 works, and why it has become such a huge event across the planet.
