Keith Richards: 'America has to get rid of Trump!'

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has revealed the band had a less-than-positive experience with Donald Trump before he became US president.

The rockers were left bruised after Trump was their promoter in 1989, on their Steel Wheels tour.

Richards told the BBC: "He was the promoter for us in Atlantic City. It was [billed as] Donald Trump presents the Rolling Stones, [with the band name] in miniature.

"We never have much to do with promoters usually, but this one got me. That was the last time I got angry.

"I pulled out my trusty blade, stuck it in the table and said, 'You've got to get rid of this man!'"

“America has to get rid of him,” he added, during an interview on the Today programme.

“Don't say I didn't warn you."

Trump famously used the Rolling Stones' song You Can't Always Get What You Want during his presidential campaign.

That’s not the first time Trump has been involved in music.

In 1991, he appeared in a music video for the now-defunct band Precious Metal, an all-female LA rock band.

He originally agreed to appear in the video for a $10,000 fee, but upped his demand to $250,000 after the video shoot.

Former band members say this was because of other business disagreements with their label boss, and the video was never released.
