Miriam Margolyes has revealed what it was like to meet "the real people, the people at the rough end of things" on her trip to America.
Margolyes has been on a trip across America as part of her new BBC TV show Miriam's Big American Adventure. She met several people such as rappers and Christians who follow creationism.
The actress joined Paul Ross and Carole Malone to discuss her time in America and explained "it was a fantastic experience for me, I’m very nervous about what people are going to say about it, but it was a fabulous experience."
She revealed that when she met rappers "it was fun and a little bit scary" as in one case, when she and her team went to meet a rapper, "someone had been shot about 3 minutes before we arrived."
Margolyes also said she's still friends with the Christian Creationists she met, which is "the most unlikely thing." She claimed "when you meet a proper Christian, a real Christian, they are just delicious wonderful people."
She also spoke with a far-right anti-Semite through loudspeakers and he would not "meet anybody who wasn’t white like him". She claims this "shows what stupidities still exist amongst ignorant and dangerous people. I think he’s a pile of sh** personally."
