New Zealand radio host and huge Bee Gees fan Tim Roxborogh reflected on the time he spent collecting Bee Gees records, finding out about their songs and interviewing the band, on Barry Gibb's 70th birthday (Thursday).

The band was made up of brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. Roxborogh revealed how the band wrote their songs and who contributed.

He also discussed the songs written for other singers and why they were happy to give that material to others.

Barry Gibb is releasing a solo album this year called In The Now, following his guest slot with Coldplay at Glastonbury. Roxborogh explained how humble he was about the performance, giving Chris Martin a month to change his mind on the idea.
