Wes Streeting has slammed Ken Livingstone for his comments suggesting Adolf Hitler supported Zionism.
The former London Mayor was defending Naz Shah, after she was suspended from her position for anti-Semitic Facebook posts, one of which suggested Israel should be moved to the United States.
Livingstone said the reaction to the posts was "over the top because they weren't anti-Semitic." He went on to say Hitler was "supporting Zionism before he went mad and killed six million Jews."
Streeting, Labour MP for Ilford North, couldn't hide his disgust.
"He [Ken Livingstone] has been tolerated for far too long," he told Julia Hartley-Brewer. "And today, he just gone beyond the pail.
"With every word he utters, he damages the Labour Party."
Livingstone has now been suspended from the Labour party but, before that decision had been made public, Streeting had branded him a "political arsonist pouring petrol on the flames of a very serious situation."
He added: "It is now time to act. I don't care if he's on the National Executive Committee, there must be zero tolerance."
"It's time for the Labour party to get its leadership together and get him out."
