Andrew Bridgen: 'I don't think it takes too much imagining how John Bercow might speak to his staff'

John Bercow's behaviour towards colleagues has come under scrutiny

John Bercow has been accused of bullying

Tory MP Andrew Bridgen has given his view on John Bercow after claims of bullying surrounding the Commons Speaker.

News that there is to be an investigation into Parliamentary bullying is likely to pile further pressure on Bercow, following allegations that his private secretary resigned in 2011 and suffered PTSD after working for him.

Bridgen, Conservative MP for North West Leicestershire, told James Whale that he and Bercow are not the best of friends.

"You see how he speaks to cabinet ministers, I don't think it takes too much imagining how he might be speaking in private to people who don't have the power of MPs," Bridgen added.

James offered to take the pair for lunch to solve any differences between the two, but Bridgen said the relationship was irreconcilable - "he's not very popular with me and I don't think I'm very popular with him."

The Tory MP also objected to Bercow's lack of impartialty on Brexit.
