A former member of the SAS has given tips on how to survive an attack by sharks and stay safe in a dangerous world.
Chris Ryan served during the First Gulf War, being a member of the Bravo Two Zero squad who escaped and evaded capture in Iraq.
He has written a book entitled How To Stay Safe In A Dangerous World, which provides tips on action you could take in all manner of situations.
He told Sam Delaney: "The first thing is to locate the danger.
"Know where the threat is coming from, that’ll dictate what you do next.
"The most important thing is to find out where the danger is and move away from it."
The book doesn't discuss shark attacks, but nonetheless Sam got Ryan to give our listeners some survival tips for such an eventuality.
Ryan said: "There’s some weird factor a shark can smell blood 20 or 30 miles away.
"So if someone comes in for a taste and decides it doesn’t like you, someone else might be coming in.
"You’d go down and get onto the bottom of the sea and wait it out, but if you haven’t got an air supply, you’ve got to keep your head down because that thing will come around."
