Have you ever found it difficult to understand what the universe is?

Well, if you have, then this piece of audio could enlighten you. And if you haven't, well... it's a good laugh if you've got a few minutes to call.

A caller to Iain Lee's show told our esteemed host he could help him understand the universe "in a nutshell." So Iain, who's known for his keen interest in the universe, invited him to do exactly that.

The caller said: “I want you to picture an oak tree. You’ve got the branches, you’ve got the leaves, then you’ve got the nuts.

“The trunk is the universe itself, the solid matter, you’ve got the branches which are the galaxies and you’ve got the leaves which are the planets.

“I can tell you now the universe won’t end. Look at the tree and the nature of the tree."

Despite being very serious about the matter, when Iain told him that he "makes no sense." The caller agreed, saying "exactly" - which left Iain stumped (boom boom).
