Bob Mills says just a couple of months ago comedian Sean Hughes seemed "on top on the world" and his death is a great shock.
Comedian Sean Hughes has passed away at the age of 51. He was well known for appearing on panel shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
Fellow comedian Bob Mills told Jon Holmes that he only spoke to Hughes a couple of months ago and at the time "he seemed like he was really on top on the world.
"He was back in Edinburgh for the first time this year for a long time and he looked like he was really getting back into it, enjoying it."
Mills said when Hughes came over from Ireland he knocked the comedy circuit up a notch. He described him as "one of the best, the sharpest and really edgiest live performances that we’ve had the joy of seeing in this country. It’s a great shock."
He added: "It’s awful isn’t it. It’s terrible, he’s a young man."
