Donald Trump Jr has released screenshots of a conversation he had with Wikileaks on social media.

US publication The Atlantic first published reports that Donald Trump's eldest son had secretly corresponded with the pro-transparency organisation during last year's US Presidential campaign.

In the conversation, the site repeatedly asked for co-operation from Trump Jr, asking for commentary on various events and stories.

In response to the article, the President's son released screenshots of the correspondence on his personal Twitter page.

In the post to accompany it, Trump Jr called the reports "ironic", saying the leak had come from one of the congressional committees.

The reports come during a period where alleged links between the Trump campaign and Russia are being looked into.

The son of the President was subjected to particular scrutiny after reports of a meeting at Trump Tower with a Russian lawye, who promised information on Hillary Clinton, were published in the press.
