A leading political commentator has said the press conference Donald Trump held yesterday showed a man struggling to grapple with the responsibilities of office.
The president dismissed 'fake news' reports of chaos in the White House, claiming his team is running like "a fine-tuned machine."
Bill Bernard, author of Dixiecrats and Democrats, expressed his disbelief in an interview with Julia Hartley-Brewer.
He said: "It was truly extraordinary.
"He deals in facts that are not facts, some of which are demonstrably untrue. His comments about general Flynn and the Russians would be laughable if it weren’t so serious.
“The notion he sees only in what he wants to see - it’s unnerving that he seems to present this as fact to the American people.
“It’s a demonstration of the frustration and rage he feels as he tries to grapple with governance."
