Final Article 50 debate is the last-chance saloon for Remainers, says Lord Green

'Final discussion in the House Lords a last-ditch attempt to stop Brexit by Remain enthusiasts', says Lord Andrew Green

The Article 50 bill enters into the last day of discussion on Tuesday

A prominent peer has said the bill to trigger Article 50 is nothing more than a last-ditch attempt to block Brexit.

Lord Green also said the Article 50 bill must pass without any amendments that could affect the Government's upcoming work.

The European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill enters into its final day of discussion in the House of Lords today (Tuesday) and there will be a vote this evening.

Lord Green, chair of Migration Watch UK, told Paul Ross: "The bill is designed to trigger EU negotiations.

"In my view, this mounts to a last-ditch attempt by Remain enthusiasts to stop the Government and eventually prevent Brexit from happening at all.

"I personally want to see the Lords get on with it and pass the bill without amendments which could seriously complicate the Government's work. "

Listen above.
