A German tourist was supposed to head home from his holiday in Dubai this week - but ran into the small problem of forgetting where he was from.
The director of the Tourist Police Department, Colonel Mubarak Saeed Salim, said the man had arrived in Dubai with a tourist group, according to Arab News.
After a boat trip on his last day, he had got a taxi to Dubai International Airport, but then "could not figure out where he was supposed to go and why he was in the airport."
The man then decided to find another taxi, asking it to take him to the nearest beach, according to Gulf News.
He then spent time on the beach, trying to work out where he was supposed to be going.
Salim's statement said: “A police patrol spotted the man sitting on the beach looking lost and confused and an officer spoke with him.
"The tourist told the officer that he didn’t have a clue about what he wanted. The officer then took him to the Bur Dubai police station in order to resolve the problem."
However, police could do nothing to help until they happened to receive an email from the man's family, with a photo attached.
They told the police they had been waiting for him to return home to the airport, however he never arrived and this seemed to be the only way to get in touch.
The man was then helped to return home.
