If parents have time for Netflix and social media they can help their kids with homework.

That's according to Julia Hartley-Brewer, who said it was "nonsense" to argue that modern mums and dads are too busy to give their kids a hand with the exercises they bring home from school.

A new study has shown that British parents spend less time helping their kids than their counterparts in other countries, and many have blamed the pressures of work and other commitments for this.

But Julia said that there is always time for homework.

"[Parents] have plenty of time to sit on Facebook," Julia said, "they have plenty of time to watch boxsets. They do have time.

"It's about showing an interest, it's about showing that you value it."
