A 63-year-old Indian man got a major shock after a report claimed he had female organs.

Narayan Chandra Sen, a father of three, had gone to a local doctor in Machhlandapur, an area in the west of the country, to be treated for chronic cramps in his stomach and lower abdomen.

When medication failed to solve the problem, Sen was advised to get a scan done at Barasat Cancer Research & Welfare Centre.

When he collected the report of the scan, the doctor seemed stunned at the results, which caused Sen to think there was a major problem.

However, he was shocked to hear the doctor say everything was fine other than the fact he would appear to be female, complete with ovaries and a uterus.

Sen went straight to the police station and lodged a complaint against what he called "a gross mistake".

A representative for the centre said there may have been a printing error and were currently looking into it.
