Eamonn Holmes and Saira Khan had a fiery debate with leading Corbynista Aaron Bastani over tax this afternoon.
Bastani appeared on talkRADIO after former Tory minister Lord Willetts has said baby boomers should pay higher wealth taxes to fund health and welfare in the UK.
Bastani argued that the tax system should be reconfigured to help those at the bottom.
But Saira asked: "Why should somebody like me who’s grafted worked since I was 16 years old paid my taxes, pay for somebody, who can’t be bothered?"
Bastani responded "I agree with you to an extent but you can’t run a social system like that", adding that the very wealthiest people don’t pay any tax at all.
Eamonn, rather exasperated, argued "when you say the very wealthy, you’re not talking about most normal people, you’re talking about corporations and somebody who lives offshore."
The interview got increasingly heated, leaving Eamonn rather exasperated.
