Jeremy Corbyn has been inundated with abuse and criticism over a tweet wishing Jewish people a happy Rosh Hashanah.

Corbyn sent the message yesterday (September 20) to mark the Jewish New Year.

Although the tweet was perfectly innocent, it appears to have roused the ire of Corbyn's critics, who took the opportunity to remind the Labour leader of the recent anti-semitism allegations which have dogged his party.

Corbyn ordered an inquiry into the allegations and his supporters claim the Labour Party does not have a problem with anti-semitism. However the controversy surrounding Ken Livingstone's remarks about Hitler and Zionism, coupled with the abuse reported by Jewish Labour MP Luciana Berger, have fuelled speculation about anti-semitic behaviour among Corbyn's supporters.
