It was illogical not to grant Marine A bail and the soldier is a victim of political correctness, says military author Frederick Forsyth.

Alexander Blackman, known as Marine A, has not been granted bail. He is currently serving a life sentence for murdering an injured Afghan fighter.

Former journalist and spy Forsyth told James Whale: “The judges I thought adopted a very illogical position because even the state barrister…had no objection to bail. Now that is pretty weird.

“I think that the ministry of defence is probably the worst ministry we’ve got," he added. “British establishment would go to any depth imaginable to cover up its mistakes, and they made a mistake here.

“The traditional British religion called Christianity has been swept away, and been replaced by one called political correctness."
