Metropolitan Police were 'misguided' in Notting Hill Carnival tweet, says DJ

The post by the Met Police garnered controversy

A DJ and broadcaster has claimed the Metropolitan Police were "misguided" after posting a tweet about a drugs arrest ahead of Notting Hill Carnival.

London's police force posted this tweet on Twitter on Tuesday, which provoked an immediate backlash:

Among the notable people blasting this post was Stormzy, who labeled it "racist."

Edward Adoo says the Met are there to do their jobs, but in this instance, they were "misguided."

He told Sam Delaney: "Sometimes they have their critics but they’re there to the job.

"I think the way they’ve approached this is misguided and wrong in terms of connecting Catford to Notting Hill Carnival.

"It’s a multiracial, annual event that connects with different generations.

"By highlighting it and connecting it with a drugs bust in catford, is that the right angle to be promoting Carnival?"

Listen above.
