A man was left injured after becoming the victim of an acid attack in east London, just hours after the horrors of Hackney.

Less than 24 hours after a string of acid attacks across Hackney and the neighbouring areas of Islington and Stoke Newington, a man was admitted to hospital in Dagenham after two men on a moped sprayed a "noxious substance" over him.

The two tried to steal the man's moped on Ballards Road, but were unsuccessful, it has emerged.

Police have said the victim had not sustained any lasting injuries, and he was discharged.

No arrests have yet been reported following the attack.

Thursday's attacks, which shocked the nation, left five people injured and have led to fierce debate over whether to change the laws on acid-related assaults.

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with those events, and one has appeared in court to face 15 charges, including grievous bodily harm.
