A baby has died from asphyxiation two months after being hospitalised having inhaled tear gas.

Abdul Rahman Barghouti and his family had been exposed to the substance after Palestinians came into conflict with Israeli forces near his home in the West Bank town of Aboud, near Ramallah.

Palestinian officials claimed Israeli troops shot the gas near Abdul's house on May 19.

A spokesman, Osama Najjar, told Al-Jazeera that medics attempting to tend to him and a number of other wounded people were forced to carry patients to hospital, after the Israeli forces reportedly blocked their ambulances from gaining access.

Barghouti was transferred to a hospital in west Jerusalem due to the severity of his condition, but later passed away.
