A PC has been dismissed following a special case hearing held for inappropriate online communication with a young girl.

PC Samuel Barton, based at Bromley, faced allegations that he breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct.

It was alleged that during the evening of May 4, 2016 the officer engaged in inappropriate messaging via Facebook Messenger with a young girl he knew to be aged under 16 years of age.

The chair found the allegations proven and the officer was dismissed without notice.

In addition, as of an amendment made on Friday, 15 December, PC Barton will now be placed on a Police Barred List preventing future employment elsewhere in policing.
