The European Union is "more important and popular" than the UK and Westminster could take lessons in respect from Brussels.
That's according to SNP MP Angus MacNeil, who spoke to talkRADIO after Nicola Sturgeon announced she will seek approval for a Scottish independence referendum.
MacNeil, the SNP MP for Na h-Eileanan an Iar, told Paul Ross that the UK has "not got a clue" about what it is doing with Brexit and this is going to become "very apparent" by the referendum.
He believes: “The EU is more important and more popular than the UK and that is a fact that is informing the fact we’re going for a second independence referendum.
"The European Union treats its members with far great respect than the UK treats its constituent nation parts, that is becoming very apparent to Scots."
MacNeil claims the UK is "not a partnership" like it is supposed to be. For example he claims Nicola Sturgeon has not even been informed about when Article 50 will be triggered.
