Stephen Colbert has mocked Donald Trump over his "fire and fury" remarks.

As the crisis with North Korea escalates, the US President warned earlier this week there would be "fire and fury" like the world has never known if the regime continued to threaten America.

In response, North Korean state media reported the regime was considering a strike on the island of Guam, where the US has a key military base.

When Trump suggested the vow hadn't gone far enough, Colbert mocked him for it.

The American talk show host asked what could possibly be tougher than Trump's warning.

He quipped: "Lava and rage? A paper cut and a lemon?"
