Philip Hammond's Budget is set to focus on Brexit, grammar schools and pensions tax, among other things

This year's Budget is one of the most keenly anticipated in years

Tuesday, March 7, 2017

Tomorrow sees the announcement of one of the most crucial budgets in years, as the Government seeks to offset the likely cost of Brexit against the need to plug the yawning social care chasm, revamp Britain's crumbling education system and overhaul public transport.

Then there are the other widely-anticipated announcements, including a sweeping cut in pensions tax relief which will infuriate investors and the elderly alike; a crackdown on the amount of small print included in subscription services; and a huge investment in robotics and new technology.

With all these factors in play, tomorrow's Budget - the last to take place in the spring - is likely to be as fiendishly complicated as any piece of political news you read this year.

But help is at hand. talkRADIO has teamed up with fullfact.org, an independent fact-checking charity set up to investigate the truth behind the big news of the day, to bring you a bite-size video which breaks down government spending into simple, easily digestible chunks.
