'Tear gas attack' at Frankfurt airport leaves six injured

The check-in desk has reopened in the wake of the incident

A suspected tear gas attack at Frankfurt airport in Germany has left six people injured.

Bild is reporting passengers were sprayed with a reported gas around 11:00am on Monday at the Terminal 1 check-in desks. 

The authorities were called to deal with people suffering from eye irritation and breathing problems. 

 

Airport police have said an investigation into the incident has opened, and it is not clear whether any attacker has yet been arrested. 

 

Meanwhile, the airport has said on Twitter the check-in desk has re-opened, and fire brigade operations had concluded with no substance found.
