Tim Farron has said gay sex is not a sin

Wednesday, April 26, 2017

Tim Farron's comments on gay people matter because LGBT people are still discriminated against, according to a Pink News reporter.

Benjamin Butterworth told James Whale that he finds it odd that it's taken the Liberal Democrat leader so long to clarify his view on gay people, as two years ago when he was asked about his views on homosexuality, he responded by saying gay people are all sinners.

Farron has now said that he does not believe gay sex is a sin.

The reason why his comments are so important is because the LGBT community regularly suffers, Butterworth claimed, and it could be intimidating for someone from a religious family who is gay to hear that what they're doing could be sinful.

Whilst Butterworth said he respected his personal views, he believes that as a politician Farron should not have made comments about sin in public.
