A prominent journalist has said that Tony Blair is doing the work of the Brexiteers for them.

In a speech given in the City of London, the former Prime Minister urged pro-EU people it was their "mission" to persuade Leave voters to change their minds about Brexit.

He said in a speech on behalf on Open Britain: "The people voted without knowledge of the true terms of Brexit. As these terms become clear, it is their right to change their mind."

Asa Bennett told Julia Hartley-Brewer that everytime Blair speaks, he's only playing into the hands of Brexiteers.

He said: "I’m surprised he keeps popping up to keep giving his thoughts like this.

"He seems to think of himself as the Che Guevara of the Remain campaign, he’s more like a parliamentary troll.

“The three terms he served seems to have gone to his head now, he seems to think he can dictate things.

"He’s just being belligerent and fanatically pro-EU. He’s forgetting what democracy is.”

“Everytime Blair talks, he’s doing the Brexiteers’ work for them."
