A 63-year-old woman had to be rescued in China after she tried to abseil down the side of an apartment building using just a piece of rope.

The woman, identified as Jia, was trying to enter her own apartment through the window, after the door had been blown shut by the wind and she had been locked out, according to UPI.

She had chosen this unusual method of getting back inside as she said she could not afford to pay a locksmith.

The woman had borrowed the rope from a local construction site, but when lowering herself down she went too far and ended up stuck on an air conditioning unit which is attached to the building.

A firefighter then had to be lowered down from the top of the building in order to rescue her, and helped her climb back up to the window to get inside.

The woman was not injured in the incident, but a video of the event was posted online, watch it below.
