Actor David Schwimmer has told Blackpool police he is innocent after a video still of an alleged thief who resembled his character Ross Geller in the sitcom Friends was circulated online.
Police in Blackpool had posted an image of a man leaving a shop with a crate of beers on Facebook, appealing for people to come forward with any information.
He is wanted for the alleged theft of a jacket, wallet and mobile from a restaurant.

The picture quickly went viral after people spotted the alleged thief's striking resemblance to Schwimmer.
A Facebook user, referencing the Friends theme song, wrote: "I don't think it's been this guy's day, his week, his month or even his year.....".
'Officers, I swear it wasn't me'
The actor has now posted a video on Twitter where he parodies the CCTV footage, along with the caption: "Officers, I swear it wasn't me. As you can see, I was in New York.
"To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation."
The alleged theft happened on September 20, a post by Blackpool police said.
Lancashire Police responded to Schwimmer via its Twitter account, saying "Thanks for being there for us" before adding the hashtag "#appreciatethesupport".
