Ruthie - Me & My Dad podcast: Britain's trains, #MeToo and Daniel Craig's papoose

Ruthie - Me and My Dad

Thursday, October 18, 2018

As a new episode of Ruthie - Me & My Dad lands, we take a look at what's up for discussion between millennial Ruth and her baby boomer father...

In case you weren't up to speed, the premise of the podcast is as follows. Seventeen-year-old Ruth (a millenial), talks current affairs with her father, Martin Kelner (a baby boomer and self-confessed "washed-up broadcaster").

If you're still not already sold on tuning in, here's a look at what's going down in this week's episode.

Britain's trains

The pair have had a three-day disagreement this week over Britain's railways and train etiquette.

Martin says he is against eating on trains due to the "aroma", but Ruthie reveals she is a train-eater.

Trains into London were severely delayed yesterday due to, but Martin defended the services, claiming he still made it into work on time.

"They're crap more than they're not crap," Ruthie replied.

Daniel Craig's papoose

A picture of Daniel Craig carrying his baby in a papoose came under scrutiny from Piers Morgan, who said it looked "emasculating".

Ruthie came to the defence of Craig, claiming the picture couldn't look any "more masculine".

"He looks like he's just saved a baby while summiting Mount Everest," she said.

#MeToo movement

This week the father-daughter duo discussed whether the #MeToo movement has gone too far.

"It seems now you've got to be so careful with anyone you meet of the opposite sex," Martin said.

Ruthie disagreed, saying it wasn't "complicated" to avoid crossing a line.

"The idea that men are afraid to approach women is not real," she said.

She added: "As long as you don't cross any lines which you shouldn't have been doing anyway there's no problem with it. It's not complicated."
