In this week's talkFILM podcast, Jamie East and co-host Hanna Flint talk Venom, a Star is Born, Johnny English and Blindspotting.
Latest Marvel Comic adaptation, Venom, which stars Tom Hardy, is "one of the strangest, hot messes I've ever seen", host Jamie admitted.
Hardy plays an investigative journalist called Eddie Brock in the film, who morphs into a monster whilst researching a story.
"It was a poor man's Deadpool," Hanna said. "It should be scary and sinister and it wasn't."
The podcast co-hosts gave the film a rating of two stars out of five.
Also up for discussion was the fourth remake of a Star is Born, starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who made his directorial debut with the film.
The film centres around an undiscovered waitress Ally, played by Gaga, and professional singer Jackson Maine, played by Cooper.
"I'm so angry that I loved it as much as I did," Jamie said.
"It was totally unexpected from Bradley Cooper that he would deliver this quality film," Hanna added. "I saw the 1976 version and I hated that film, I thought it was really naff."
