With videos of Theresa May ‘dad-dancing’ spread across social media during her visit to South Africa, we are reminded that the Prime Minister has had her fair share of awkward moments. Here are our top five.
Running through fields of wheat
During the 2017 election campaign, the Prime Minister admitted what the naughtiest thing she had ever done… “I have to confess when me and my friends used to run through the fields of wheat, the farmers weren’t too pleased about that.” Well, no one was expecting that.
Meeting members of the Royal family
Whenever Theresa May meets a member of the Royal family she really commits to the curtsy. Her low curtsy has been described as “unique” as her knee nearly touches the floor.
The laughing meme
During a PMQs in March 2017, Mrs May threw her head back and laughed at something Jeremy Corbyn said. The laugh was quickly turned into memes, with her surrounded by fire for “an evil laugh”, eating a fish and even a Jaws themed one. You can’t help but replay it.
Last year's party conference speech
Theresa May really struggled to keep it together during her last year’s speech at the Conservative conference. With coughing fits, a P45 handed to her by comedian Lee Nelson and then to top it all off the set behind her started falling apart.
Dancing in South Africa
The Maybot’s latest sighting was in South Africa earlier this week, when she robotically “dad-danced” with school children in Cape Town as she began a three-day visit South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya. Good on her for joining in, but she looks less than comfortable.
