Bernard Jenkin, Member of Parliament for Harwich and North Essex, has dismissed claims from Education Secretary, Nicky Morgan, that leaving the EU will result in a 'lost generation' of young people as "rubbish".
Speaking candidly to Julia Hartley-Brewer, Jenkin stated: "This is the most ridiculous rubbish...it's completely over the top.
"I'll tell you where there's a lost generation of young people, that's in the southern European states who have been devastated by the Euro."
Morgan is urging young people to make sure they go out and vote to stay in the EU, saying: “If parents and grandparents vote to leave, they’ll be voting to gamble with their children and grandchildren’s future.”
Jenkin, however, fired back, claiming: "It is the EU that has inflicted that tragedy [desperately low unemployment rates] on those countries and those young people. It is one of the reasons we need to leave the EU."
The EU referendum will be held on June 23.
