Ray Wilson has told talkRADIO David Bowie was the reason he started playing music.
The former Genesis and Stiltskin singer joined Jonny Gould and Ash at the Sanctum Soho Hotel ahead of the release of his new acoustic album, A Song For A Friend, next month.
He revealed he was inspired by a number of influences, but insists Bowie was the man.
"I was influenced mostly by music of the 70s, even though I was a teenager of the 80s," he said. "I liked Pink Floyd and The Pistols. But David Bowie was who I loved as a teenager, he was the reason I started playing music."
Wilson's career has now spanned three decades, and his longevity is one of the things of which he is most proud.
He added: "My greatest achievement has not been having a number one single or singing with Genesis, it's having a career for this long and still doing it full time."
