Eric Bana has revealed he couldn’t believe his luck when Ricky Gervais offered him a part in his new movie.
Gervais stars in and directs Special Correspondents, a remake of the 2009 French comedy of the same name, with Bana playing Frank Bonneville, a journalist at a local radio station in New York. The plot revolves around a plan hatched by himself and a technician going completely wrong.
The film will be released worldwide on Netflix on April 29 and Bana admits the role is a dream come true.
He told Jon Holmes: "It's one of the few times when you get a call from someone who you really idolise. My first reaction was, 'does he know who I am'? I was beside myself, it was a bit of a dream come true."
“There was originally a French version, but Ricky basically rewrote the whole thing and made it a bit funnier."
