Professor Donald P. Waller of the University of Illinois joined Jonny and Ash to discuss a potential new male contraception

He explained how the newly proposed contraception uses a hydrogel, a substance which allows flow of water but prevents the sperm flowing through, "kind of like a filter."

Waller added the new proposed method would be a “single injection which will remain there."

But users could have another chemical injected to remove the hydrogel should they later choose to have children.

He added: “Some preliminary studies indicate that by infiltrating a very simple fluid it can basically dissolve away this hydrogel and re-establish patency and the opening of the vast to allow sperm to continue to flow through."
