Caroline Pidgeon, London mayoral candidate for the Liberal Democrats, has launched a scathing attack on her rivals for office.

The current frontrunners for the post that will be vacated by Boris Johnson next month are Zac Goldsmith and Sadiq Khan, but Pidgeon insists neither are viable options given their apparent lack of passion and vision.

"I think the more Londoners meet the candidates, I have no doubt my vote would go up because neither of them are very impressive. Neither of them really has this passion for London," she claimed.

"They seem to be doing it [running for mayor] because it’s a nice post, rather than actually running because they want to do something to change things to improve the lives of Londoners."
