London Mayoral hopeful, Sadiq Khan, has labelled his rival Zac Goldsmith, a "serial underachiever."
His comments come after Goldsmith claimed Khan would be a "disaster for London."
In an attempt to set the record straight, Khan told Julia Hartley-Brewer: "My point about Zac Goldsmith, and I say this as someone that likes him, his problem is he’s a serial underachiever. He has done nothing with his life.
"He's a nice guy. I'm disappointed he's running such a desperate and negative campaign. He's better than this."
Khan, Labour MP for Tooting since 2005, also called for the people of London to think long and hard about their options heading into the Mayoral election in May, stating: "You compare and contrast my experience with his, you compare and contrast my vision with his, which one of us has a desperate and negative campaign? It’s not me, it’s him."
Khan also called for Goldsmith to focus on what's important for London, which he called "the greatest city in the world."
"Let’s discuss policies, let’s discuss our visions, but don’t get negative Zac. Come on, you’re better than that."
