Ben Ross, Head of Print at Telegraph Travel, talked to Jonny Gould feat, Ash about the results of The Telegraph Travel Awards 2016.
It is the fourth year the paper's readership has voted New Zealand as their favourite destination.
“I think the big thing for when you get there is that there’s a sense that you understand what you’re getting," Ross explained.
“If you’re an English traveller, you’ll be arriving in a destination that speaks English. It’s got incredibly good communications, good road and plane connections all around the country. It’s just dazzling in terms of landscape.”
He also commented Peter Jackson's movie trilogies The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings have helped.
“If you’ve got something working for your tourist board that hard for 15 years from the Lord of the Rings, via the Hobbit films as well, where it’s showcasing this amazing scenery all the time, that really is going to help I think.”
