She is one of 2016's hottest internet sensations, with her explosive online videos attracting millions of views from around the world.

Dr. Sandra Lee, AKA Dr. Pimple Popper, was in the talkRADIO studios on Wednesday to tell the brothers Gould about her experience as a viral sensation, saying her journey has been "stratospheric".

Dr. Lee, a dermatologist from Southern California, has seen more than a million viewers flock to her videos, which show the removal of blackheads, cysts, lipomas, and other growths on the skin. Her hugely popular YouTube channel also provides advice on skincare.

She explained to Jonny and Ash how her success erupted somewhat unexpectedly.

"It was kind of by accident," she told Jonny Gould. "In the last year-and-a-half, when I started to do Dr. Pimple Popper, it just went stratospheric.

"We already have almost 1.4 million followers on YouTube and Instagram."

She shared her thoughts on why people would find these occasionally gruesome videos so captivating.

"I think it's something people watch and get a lot of satisfaction from," she said. "We've made it more acceptable.

"There's a strong reaction from a lot of people, they are fascinated with it. It's a very cathartic experience – there's a release.

"There are some people who say they need it every night before they go to sleep."

The good doctor told our distinguished hosts that the pimple popping phenomenon has coined a new phrase.

"We call it Dr. Pimple Popper and Chill," she said.
