The top ten 'creepiest' career paths, as voted by the British public, have been unveiled.
But it has been met with widespread scorn by those whose professions have made the list.
Clowns were crowned as the creepiest, with the remainder of the top three being made up by taxidermists and sex shop owners.
Martin Solity, however, who has been a clown for 40 years, claims there is nothing sinister about his chosen job. In fact, he sees it as being quite the opposite.
Speaking to Julia Hartley-Brewer, he insisted his goal in life is simple – to make people happy. He said: "I decided I wanted to put smiles on people's faces. My problem is anyone can put make up on and call themselves a clown without knowing what they're doing."
Meanwhile, funeral director (number four in the list) Simon Albin Dyer, who owns F.A. Albin & Sons, admitted the family business did affect his childhood, but says people now find it fascinating.
"When I was growing up, my friends were not keen to come and stay," he confessed. "We had all sorts of things said, like we sleep in coffins.
"But now when I talk to people and say I'm a funeral director, they are very interested in what I do."
The top ten creepiest professions in Britain are:
