Steve Backshall has urged people to appreciate the nature we have in Great Britain.

He'll be going on tour in October with Steve Backshall's Wild World. In the show he explains expeditions he's undertaken with videos and photos from various countries, including a Q&A session.

The much loved television presenter encouraged adults and children to get more involved with nature at home.

"Great Britain is sensational, we massively underestimate the [nature] we've got and it's ours," he told Paul Ross. "We have this enormous heritage and we have to learn to appreciate it.

"Go searching for bugs in your back garden. Some of [the insects you find] will be things your children have absolutely no idea what they are."

The wildlife expert also revealed he has more fear of people than animals.

"We'll be out in the rainforest filming the world's most lethal crocodile, come back and be held at gunpoint," he added. "People are so much more frightening than animals can ever be."
