Ten people, including a gunman, have been killed in an attack outside a church in Egypt.
The attack was carried out on St Mina's Church, a Coptic religious centre in Helwan, Cairo.
The gunman was shot dead by police after opening fire on the Mar Mina church in Cairo, according to officials cited by Middle East Eye.
The gunman killed nine people before we was gunned down, and at least one police officer is among the victims, according to local media. Officials are searching for a second gunman who is thought to have escaped.
Footage captured on a mobile phone, which was posted on social media, appeared to show the gunman on the ground after being shot, wearing a bulky ammunition vest.
It is not yet clear who carried out the attack, but the Islamic State affiliate in Egypt has killed dozens of Christians in gun and bomb raids over the past year.
Around 10% of Egypt's population is Christian, and the majority belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church.
