At least 35 people have died due to landslides in Bangladesh.

The landslides were caused as a result of the monsoon rains the country is currently dealing with.

On Monday alone Bangladesh received 343 millimetres of rainfall in the district of Rangamati, where 24 people have died as a result.

Roads and routes for transportation have been cut off by the rain and landslights, and communications have been knocked out.

The authorities have said relief efforts remain ongoing.

The monsoon season began two weeks after Cyclone Mora hit the country, killing eight people and damaging thousands of homes.
