Former England footballer Adam Johnson's appeal to overturn his child sex conviction has failed.

The panel of three judges found at London's High Court found against Johnson, and ruled that he must serve his full six-year jail sentence for sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

The 29-year-old, who previously played for Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Sunderland, launched the challenge earlier this year after a previous appeal failed.

During his trial, the court heard Johnson kissed and touched the girl sexually during an encounter in his Range Rover in County Durham.

Johnson admitted grooming the 15 year old, a fan who was besotted with him, and pled guilty to one charge of sexual activity with a child, relating to kissing her.

However he denied any further sexual activity took place.
