Aerolineas Argentinas plane catches fire on the runway at New York's JFK airport

Emergency services in New York rushed to John F. Kennedy Airport after a plane caught fire on the runway late on Thursday. 

Aerolineas Argentinas flight 1301 was preparing to take off to fly to Buenos Aires when the fire broke out around 4am GMT (11pm in New York). 

Witnesses reported hearing the sounds of an explosion, and images on Twitter show the plane appearing to become engulfed in flames.

Flight 1301 was taxied back to the gate for a thorough examination. 

There have been no reported deaths or injuries in the incident, and the official cause of the fire has not been determined.
